About the Role

The Engineer in Generator Electrical Design is an individual contributor role. Turbogenerators sit at the center of power plants that keep homes, hospitals, and industry running. In this role, you will own the electrical design of these large rotating machines. You will be involved from the first customer specification through testing and erection. You will apply electromagnetic, thermal, and ventilation analysis to real projects. You will work with design, sourcing, manufacturing, and field teams in several locations, and your decisions will affect the cost, quality, and performance of each machine.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver requisition-level electrical designs for turbogenerators that meet project schedule and cost targets
  • Adapt standard electrical documentation to the specific requirements of each project
  • Perform electrical, electromagnetic, thermal, and ventilation design analyses
  • Respond to customer and site questions, and assess customer specifications
  • Join tests and measurements at test stations and power plants, and analyze the results
  • Maintain and improve the calculation tools used to configure electric machines
  • Support offers, sales, and project management with technical input
  • Support manufacturing, sourcing, erection, and commissioning, and evaluate electrical data from erection, commissioning, and operation
  • Collaborate with other design groups to keep the generator design consistent, and contribute to cost-out, cycle-time reduction, and quality improvement projects

Required Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Electrical Power Engineering, with emphasis on electric power and rotating machinery, plus 1 year of relevant experience. A bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience will also be considered
  • At least 2 years of experience designing rotating electrical machinery

  • Resume or CV submitted in English

Desired Qualifications

  • Experience designing large rotating machines, such as turbogenerators
  • Written and spoken English fluency, and proficiency in a second language
  • Experience working with multi-location, multicultural teams
