Summary

Residential Electricians are responsible for installs, maintenance, and repairs of electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures for residential (single-family homes, apartments, and large-scale housing complexes) customers while providing excellent customer service. Their duties include communicating with clients to establish job details and related costs, reviewing electrical blueprints to identify wiring circuits and coordinating with team members to provide home comfort support.

Essential Functions

• Assemble, install, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixtures, using hand tools and power tools
• Diagnose and repair electrical issues
• Install electrical systems, such as ceiling fans, lighting, GFCIs/GFIs (ground fault circuit interrupters), electric vehicle charging stations, and entertainment systems
• Establish and foster client relationships through strong communication and customer service providing the ability to fully explain to customer what the issues are and their options for repair (when applicable)
• Upgrade a home to be more energy efficient
• Install new wiring and circuits
• Travel to job sites in service area, and work with dispatch to ensure schedule is maintained and delays are properly communicated to customer
• Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with codes
• Test electrical systems and continuity of circuits in electrical wiring, equipment, and fixtures, using testing devices such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, and oscilloscopes, to ensure compatibility and safety of system
• Understand and apply blueprints and technical diagrams with the ability to layout, plan and install electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on job specifications and local codes
• Maintain good working order of Company vehicle (i.e., safety checks, maintenance, etc.)
• Maintain proper stock, parts, tools, and safety equipment in the vehicle in a clean and organized fashion
• Understand Company pricing and generate appropriate customer invoices at job site
• Participate in Company-provided training and comply with all code regulations
• Adhere to all Company safety rules
• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• Experience: 3–5 years of proven experience as an Electrician (residential and/or light commercial)
• Licensing: Class I or Class II Georgia Electrical Contractor License a plus
• Technical Skills: Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
• Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
• Problem-solving: Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
• Mechanical aptitude
• Customer Service: Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills with a strong desire to exceed customer expectations
• Schedule: Must have the ability to work the required schedule of Tuesday–Saturday
• Work Style: Results driven in a high-energy environment
• Attention to detail
• Age: Must be at least 21 years of age
• Driving: Must pass MVR screening and maintain a good driving record
• Independence: Must be able to follow directions and work independently
• Communication: Ability to read, write and speak in English

Physical Activities & Requirements

• Physical Strength: Walking, sitting, bending, kneeling, crawling, stooping, reaching (including overhead), climbing ladders/stairs and lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis
• Environment: Work in varying temperatures including non-climate-controlled areas occasionally with extreme temperatures
• Safety Exposure: Work environment involves exposure to potentially dangerous materials and situations that require following extensive safety precautions and may include the use of protective equipment
• Environmental Elements: Work involves almost constant exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, toxic chemicals, biohazardous materials, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, and/or loud noises
• Schedule: Must be available to work nights and weekends, on a rotating basis, to service emergency needs of our customers
• Visual Abilities: Must be able to correctly differentiate between colors
• Technology: Must be proficient in the use of smart phones, tablets and other mobile devices
